Frank Appice was born in Brooklyn NY on November 16th, 1937. A true motorcycle enthusiast, he began riding at 15 and rode his whole life.
Frank joined the United States Navy in 1955. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Intrepid and was stationed in Bainbridge MD., and the Brooklyn Navy Yard. He traveled to France and Ireland. He was a Vice President of the former crewmembers association and served on its board of directors.
After his tour with the U.S. Navy, Frank rode with several groups, as well as the Brooklyn and NYC H.O.G. chapters. He was a Rolling Thunder member for nearly 30 years and was instrumental in the creation of Chapter 1 Brooklyn and the former Chapter 2 Brooklyn. He was the founder and Chairman of the Board of Rolling Thunder Chapter 2 NY, where he was looked up to and respected by over 100 members.
Frank was truly a legend in the NYC motorcycle community. He was known and respected by all for his dedication and devotion to his country, its veterans, and anything veteran related. He was a member of the D.A.V. and as Rolling Thunder Chapter 2 NY Chairman of the Board, he oversaw their annual D.A.V. support run which has raised in excess of 75 thousand dollars.
In his memory, Frank’s wife and children have decided to form a Scholarship Fund in his honor. It will be open to high school seniors applying to college as well as students already enrolled in college.
It will be available to the children and grandchildren of veterans, as well as to those students who volunteer for veteran causes.
The Frank Appice Memorial Scholarship was created in Frank Appice’s honor to benefit the community and help those who help veterans. If you’d like to donate to the Frank Appice Scholarship Fund we would really appreciate it.
